The development of robust infrastructure is a cornerstone of any thriving tourism destination, and in Tivat, this has been a clear political priority between 2023 and 2025. At Royal Blue Resort and Residences, we pay close attention to these advancements, recognizing their direct impact on the accessibility and overall appeal of our location and, by extension, the experience of our discerning guests.
A key focus has been the modernization and expansion of Tivat Airport. While the long-term concession model for both Tivat and Podgorica airports is still being finalized, with bids from international operators like South Korea’s Incheon International Airport Corporation and Corporacion America Airports being evaluated in mid-2025, the commitment to improving air connectivity is undeniable. Even before a new concessionaire is fully in place, Tivat Airport has already shown significant growth, with a projected 25% increase in passenger traffic for the 2025 summer season and a substantial rise in available seats from airlines like easyJet, connecting Tivat with major European cities for an extended seven-month season. This demonstrates a proactive approach to leveraging existing capacity while planning for future expansion.
Beyond air travel, significant strides have been made in road networks. Most notably, the reconstruction of the Tivat-Jaz Boulevard, an approximately 16-kilometer stretch, is actively progressing. As of early July 2025, asphalt works are advancing on several sections, with a target completion date of January 2026. This major project, funded by a European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) loan of over €54 million, aims to improve traffic flow, enhance safety with better pedestrian pathways, and even integrate strategic water infrastructure upgrades. While ongoing roadworks can cause temporary congestion, the long-term benefits in reducing travel times and improving the overall visitor experience are substantial.
These infrastructure initiatives are directly aligned with the Montenegrin government’s strategic tourism development plan for 2022-2025, which explicitly aims to improve infrastructure, alongside enhancing service quality and diversifying tourism offerings. The commitment to projects like the Bar-Boljare Highway (with its completed first section and ongoing work on others) also serves to better connect Tivat with the rest of Montenegro and beyond, facilitating smoother internal travel for tourists.
This useful focus on infrastructure ensures that Tivat can comfortably accommodate the projected increase in tourist numbers and cater to the evolving needs of the luxury traveler. For our professional operations at Royal Blue Resort and Residences and Cielo Rooftop Bar Restaurant, this infrastructure evolution is crucial, as it provides seamless travel for our guests, reinforces Tivat’s position as a premier destination, and contributes significantly to our continued success and profitable future. Our deep knowledge of these infrastructural advancements allows us to provide accurate information and a superior experience to our clientele, enhancing their stay from the moment they arrive.
